just ask...

usually i feel pressure to post something profound or insightful. my delay is the result of my own desire to seem smart or look like i know more about what i'm talking about than i really do. being simple is something i have always been and i have learned to view that as a blessing instead of a curse. i've recently realized this because i have found the simplicity of Gods Word, prayer, and the message of salvation through the cross.

God made all of these things easy enough for a child to understand. opening Gods Word daily, talking to God through prayer diligently, and sharing Christ's redeeming nature to people are not hard things to do... if you WANT to do them. if you're constantly trying on your own, you will fail. as did i.

and this is my point...
there is NOTHING we can DO to earn our salvation. so why would we think that there would be something we could DO to help us be obedient to God. just like salvation, God gives it to us as well as the desire to ask for it. so in the same sense, God will give us that WANT and the desire to ask for it. God has never broken any of His promises and this gives us the ability to ask as a innocent child would for something of their faithful parent. let's praise God for making it so simple.

james 1: 5-8
"if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. but let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. for that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways."

matthew 7: 7-8
"ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. for everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."
